Change in Sports Trends
(i) Playing Surface: There is a drastic change in the playing surface with technological advancement. Earlier, athletic events were organised on grassy or cinder track which were a type of racing track. In the year 1968, first synthetic track was made. Olympics held in the year of 1964 were the last to be played on the cinder track. The 1968 Olympics were the first to be played on the synthetic track. Some games like volleyball, badminton which is used to be played on the clay code are now held on wooden floor covered by synthetic surface.
(ii) Wearable Gears: This arose the need of advanced protective or wearable gears for athletes. Modification in sports equipment also made it mandatory to use advance quality protective gears.

(i) Helmet: Cricket, Hockey, Cycling, Boxing.
(ii) Gloves: Cricket, Boxing, Keeping.
✓ Sports Equipments:
Pole vaulting started with bamboo poles. After sometime, bamboo poles were replaced by metal poles. Now racing cycles / hockey sticks are manufactured using carbon fibres / graphite instead of metals or wood.
